High Definition Laser Scanning
LJA Engineering utilizes the latest in Advanced Geospatial Technology to deliver premium remote sensing solutions to clients on a wide range of projects and applications. LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) measures the distance to, or other properties of objects using a laser pulses. Through its Business Alliance Partnership program, LJA Engineering has delivered LiDAR data and 3D Digital Terrain Models to the Sabine Neches Navigation District for use in determining capacity of their spoil disposal containment sites. A Cessna 208 Caravan was used to capture the LiDAR data that was combined with additional on the ground survey data points to develop highly accurate DTM’s that were delivered to and used by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to design new containment levees and drainage outfalls.
LJA Engineering utilizes its in-house Leica C-10 terrestrial laser scanner to develop DTM’s and 3D models of buildings, roadways, rail yards, material stockpiles and natural ground watersheds. Projects have included Crockett Street Entertainment District, Dishman Art Gallery, Sabine Tabernacle, Newpark Environmental material stockpile, Sabine Jetty lighthouse, and a 1 mile stretch of U.S. Highway 90/College Street for the City of Beaumont. Other projects have included the new cafeteria at West Brook High School in Beaumont and the new field house at Central High School for the Beaumont ISD bond improvements program.
In 2006, LJA Engineering surveyed and mapped a 1.6 mile stretch of IH-10 at the Neches River Bridge in Beaumont for the Texas Department of Transportation. Laser scanning of the flyover and overpasses was performed recently by LJA Engineering to determine roadway to bridge clearances.
